Since it was our parish community that gave the Church the great saint Mother Teresa, in the autumn, on 5 September 2015, we began keeping a votive day in honour of St Mother Teresa.
And so, on the fifth of every month, we gather as a community at 18 o’clock for the celebration of the Eucharist, followed by adoration of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar and the veneration of the saint’s relics, all in order to pray for the intercession of St Mother Teresa in our lives.

On the occasion of Mother Teresa’s canonisation in the Vatican on 4 September 2016, by decision of Bishop Kiro Stojanov we held the national celebration “Days of St Mother Teresa” from 5 to 11 September of that year, made up of spiritual and cultural events. The central event of those days was the Eucharistic celebration of thanksgiving for the canonisation of our fellow citizen (11 September 2016), led by the delegate of the Holy Father, the metropolitan of the Diocese of Skopje, the archbishop of Sarajevo, His Eminence Vinko Cardinal Puljić. The solemn Eucharistic celebration was held on the city’s main square, “Macedonia” Square, close to the house where Mother Teresa was born.

Since then our parish has continued to keep the spiritual and cultural festival “Days of St Mother Teresa” from 3 to 5 September, and the central event is always the liturgical celebration on 5 September.
In honour of Mother Teresa’s canonisation and of the celebration in Skopje, our goldsmiths — the kujundžii — made a reliquary for the relics of St Mother Teresa.
