There was a choir in the old Skopje cathedral, which was built in 1902 and destroyed in the earthquake of 1963. St Mother Teresa tells us so herself, for she sang in that choir. History bears witness that the Sisters of the Holy Cross made an important contribution to the growth of the cathedral choir, directing it right up to 2000: Sr Emanuela, Sr Cecilija and Sr Natanaela. For a time after that the choir was directed by Miss Milica Đekić. In Sr Natanaela Palić’s time, and thanks to Mgr Antun Cirimotić, Prof. Marija Dokuzova joined the cathedral choir as organist, and she is active in it to this day. At the request of the then cathedral parish priest, Fr Nikola Čibarić, the choir was taken over by Sr Tatjana Atanasova, a sister of the Eucharistic congregation, who directs it still.
The cathedral choir makes its regular contribution by singing at the Sunday liturgies and at the solemn Masses on feast days. The choir has some twenty regular members, who come to rehearsals twice a week: every Wednesday and Saturday at 19:00.
